Yellow Shorts

I'm a Summer baby and to me, that means I wear a little more color in the summer as opposed to any other time of the year!  These Yellow shorts from Lane Bryant which I bought last summer in a couple of colors are some of my favs!  It truly brightens up my day and any look!  Then I added this Forever21 netted hoodie!

Can't go anywhere without my Asos glasses!

Love this Skirt

In the past couple of years, I believe things have shaken up a bit at Lane Bryant, because their clothes are getting cuter and cuter!  This skirt I actually bought last Summer and wore it a few times but never photographed.  On this Hot Jersey City day I paired with a stripped shirt from Forever21 that I had for a while and BAM!  My natural hair topped it off!

This was a good night!

My week in Performance

Not everything on this blog is about fashion.  I mean its about my... life!  And as much as I love clothes, and shoes, and make up, and purses, I really, really LOVE theatre!

My first love has always been theatre.  And many of you know I sing and act and perform.  And being a big girl on stage is just as much of a challenge as being a big girl in everyday life.  No pitty party here, just being real.  People are more offended by my fat and YOUR fat than I am.  And when it is center stage people may feel uncomfortable.  The costume designer is busy trying to find something to make you feel comfortable, to make the director feel comfortable and the audience.  This has always been the case for me being on stage since I can remember.  So this past week I was in CABARET the musical as a dancer (go figure) and it was a lot of fun.  The costume of course as I said was challenging.  My costume consisted of a pair of leggings from TORRID, a black sequin shirt from TORRID and my own K-MART LOVE YOUR STYLE shorts from their very first season.  Not to mention the SPANXX!  The costume designer added some sequins and fringe to the shorts.

I also performed in CONNETICUT with the UNITY ENSEMBLE here on Campus as NJCU!  Our usual attire is all black with our on African flare.  I wore DKNY pants from Lane Bryant and a blouse from H&M!

However, coming up I have this scholarship benefit concert here at NJCU that the head of the department asked me to be a part of, and its turning into something bigger than I originally though.  I am in search for a gown.  Like OPERA/DIVA style.  And that is something I am not use to shopping for.  This should be interesting.  The last picture is a pic of my friend Richard staring at my poster.

Hope u enjoy, there will be a fashion post soon!

Fashionably Late!!! Huh?

I've been out the mix for a while guys I know!  But I'm ready to come back with a bang!  BOOM!  Here I am!  This summer I went through somewhat of a break up that really through me for a loop.  On top of that I was in rehearsal for a show and if you follow me on instagram I still update my life through pictures often.  With that said, I still love fashion, still love my blog, I just had to get back to loving myself.  And thats what this new phaze of my blog is going to be about.

At the end of October I went to VA for an audtion and this is what I wore!  This Lane Bryant dress was probably one of my best investments as far as a dress to date, I can honestly say its a go to especially for performing!  After me and my mother left VA we headed to Baltimore MD, to visit my sister and I had a little extra cash so I decided to make it to a place I have always wanted to go to because I heard wonderful things about it.  K-STATION!!!  It's located in the Hampden section of Baltimore which is actually very trendy, artsy and up and coming.  When I use to live in Baltimore I don't recall there ever being a place like that!  I got to meet the Owner and Mastermind behind this fabulous plus size boutique, JADE and she is beautiful inside and out!  She helped me pick out some one of a kind timeless pieces.  A black Kiyonna Pencil skirt was one of them!  If you are ever in the MD/DC area give a go and stop by.  There are some fabulous places to eat there as well!

Thanks for reading XOXO~SAMILLE

OOTD!

I really don't know what season it is anymore.  I was so freaking hopeful that it would stay HOT!  I love the summer, but NO!  That's to good to be true.  This is NJ and in NJ nothing is as it seems.  So if any of you are in warm hot places in the country or the world, please don't rub it in!  I will get jealous, because all I want is a tan!  Anywhoo!

Today due to the rainy, moody atmosphere I had to cover up more than I like.  I do however get to wear those styling leopard shoes from Aerosol's that I got at a miraculous discount and were first introduced on the blog here....http://www.thickdaddys.blogspot.com/2012/01/lately-good-news.html and I got to finally wear this big dookie chain necklace I got from the RED, WHITE, & BLUE!!!  Its super heavy but I think gave the outfit a lot of personality.  Statement jewelry is what its all about to make a plan outfit look fab!

OOTD: MY Prof. book a job look!

In the last week I drove down to Chattanooga Tennessee with my Mother and Sister to the South Eastern Theatre Conference to audition for over 200 professional theatre companies in hopes of scoring work for the summer.  There were tons of workshops going on up until the day of the big audition, a lot of people to meet and of course a lot of yummy food to eat in Chattanooga!  This post will only cover one of the outfits I wore on one of the days I was attending different acting and the business of business workshops.  I had on a few really cute looks that of course I never took pictures of, but this one did make the cut and got a nice photo shoot out of it!  I've been actually wearing this Asos skirt with lace for a while when I bought it this past winter, but I finally snapped some pics in it!

The next post will be all about Chattanooga with more pics, I just have to get them all together first!
Hope you like it and I am on spring break this week, so I actually had 2 weeks off!  Lucky me!  I'm going to try to do some interesting things for the blog this week!

Sorry for the lack of posts, but I've been busy!

OOTD: ASOS

On Saturday the 18th, I finally got to wear two items from my favorite online store, Asos.  I had this black dress for a while and as far as the skirt I bought it when it went on sale during it's winter clearance. (both items are gone now)

My school was holding the NATS competition. (National Association of Teacher's Singing)    I was entered into the Musical Theatre Competition and I had the opportunity to change into a different outfit so I was like ok cool!  I bought the two outfits and at first I was like 4get it I'm not gonna change, everyone sounded sooo good and the day was getting longer and longer.  Especially considering I woke up at 7:00am, which is NOT a common thing over at mi casa!  But my darling, darling friend and fellow singer, Liam persuaded me to change.  He said, "if not for the competition than for Whitney!"  (LOL we are so crazy, we had to do the competition but wanted to go to NEWARK for the funeral)  So we did and headed over to the auditorium waiting for the results of the competition.  The first place winner's of each division had to be ready to sing right then and there.  And after waiting all day I was in complete total shock when they announced my name and that I won the Musical Theatre Division!!!  (I also never ran in heels before either and ran all the way up to the podium to receive my award.)  Talk about cloud 9!

It wasn't until this year that they even offered the Musical Theatre division.  So I'm kinda like the first to win it ever!!!  That's really cool!  I'm real grateful and figured I share it on my blog, along with some pics of the day!

NOW THE WINNING LOOK~~~!

I Kinda feel un-creative for wearing outfit#2 the same way it was online, but I had both pieces at different times and wanted to make something work!  Hope its not corny, there will be other ways to style this in the near future!

OOTD! Stripes!

I love, love, love stripes!  Honestly, truly do!  I have worn many of outfits that included stripes on this blog!

This outfit is no different.  It's very simple but what brings it to life and gives  it a little something extra is the striped shirt.  It's a very old shirt from Lane Bryant, about 4 years old and I hardly ever wear it.  But over the weekend I decided to bring it out, it just felt right!  And something about these diagonal stripes that makes this outfit look even more slimming.  Not only that but the Jamaican inspired colors on the shirt gives a very predominantly black outfit POP!  I have other plans for this shirt in the future that I hope will also work out.

The bag in this pic is DKNY and absolutely lovely!  Also, another oldie but goodie!

Did u enjoy the Super Bowl?

I loved Madonna's performance!  I hope everyone's Monday gets off to a great start!

OOT "RAINY" D!

It was a rainy day when I took these pics in Jersey City!  So it meant I finally got to wear this raincoat I scored at a thrift store for like $7 or something crazy like that!  It has really cool buttons and a lot of potential.  There needs to be some sewing done on one of the pockets, but other-wise than that it was a real hit.  A lot of people liked it and my thrifting taste may actually be pretty good after all!  The next time I wear this it will be in TOP-NOTCH condition and I will zone in on this cool buttons!  SO AMAZING!

I decided I am not going to post this give-a-way until I reach 60 followers!  We only need 3 more!  I guarantee you that the give-a-way is worth your while and on trend for fall!  So please tell your family, your friends, your co-workers, your acquaintances and your enemies to follow this blog and U, YES U, could be the proud owner of this fall's trend_______!!!!  (lol, yes I have sense of humor, more than u know actually).  I think soon I need to do a video blog, You have never heard my voice or really seen me in action, so that may be pretty cool!  I hope you guys think so!

Anyways!  I hope you all are keeping dry and keeping it real...and keeping it FaTshionable!  I know I am!!!!  : D
