Kiyonna Pencil Skirt

If you follow me on INSTAGRAM @thickspot then you know I have made the plunge and got my first weave!  It was for a look in particular that I was going for, but honestly I am in love!  I got it done by a fabulous hair stylist that goes by the name of the, Weave Dr.!  How appealing right?  And sooo worth it and now I plan to try more styles and more things in the near future.

With that said, this post is really about one of my closet's most essential items.  This Black Pencil Skirt by Kiyonna that I got at K-Station Plus size Boutique in Baltimore last October.  If you missed it, read it Here.  I have worn this many times but never had anyone to really take any pics of me!  I got my friend to snap some before I took it down for the evening.  So chic!  The Boutique owner sold me on it by making sure I understood that the construction of the skirt was official and it was something that wouldn't rip easily or get too worn in.  That it is a staple item to last forever, classic and always in style.  So with that I had to have it!  I have already got a lot of wear out of it.  This was more of a professional serious look.  I had other boots on when I first went outside that day.  But my feet started to hurt so I opted for my black sweater boots from K-Mart!  So comfortable.

Hopefully when I go to visit my sister this summer I can stop in at K-Station again for a another splurge the owner Jade is always ready to help.

OOTD: WELCOME BACK!

My 2nd to last semester started on Tuesday and I was feeling it.  It was cold as hell but I'm not gonna lie I was glad to be back.  Speaking of cold it seems to be getting colder and colder everyday and now I think I'm coming down with something.

I hope you guys enjoy this post compared to the last one.  The last one for some reason just wouldn't show up right for whatever reason.

I did wear a hugely oversized coat on the first day too!  But these shows just display the outfit.  I wish I could have got more shots of my earrings.  They were fab!  Next time tho!  Promise.

Don't forget to follow me on INSTAGRAM @thickspot!!!

PEACE AND LOVE

Fashionably Late!!! Huh?

I've been out the mix for a while guys I know!  But I'm ready to come back with a bang!  BOOM!  Here I am!  This summer I went through somewhat of a break up that really through me for a loop.  On top of that I was in rehearsal for a show and if you follow me on instagram I still update my life through pictures often.  With that said, I still love fashion, still love my blog, I just had to get back to loving myself.  And thats what this new phaze of my blog is going to be about.

At the end of October I went to VA for an audtion and this is what I wore!  This Lane Bryant dress was probably one of my best investments as far as a dress to date, I can honestly say its a go to especially for performing!  After me and my mother left VA we headed to Baltimore MD, to visit my sister and I had a little extra cash so I decided to make it to a place I have always wanted to go to because I heard wonderful things about it.  K-STATION!!!  It's located in the Hampden section of Baltimore which is actually very trendy, artsy and up and coming.  When I use to live in Baltimore I don't recall there ever being a place like that!  I got to meet the Owner and Mastermind behind this fabulous plus size boutique, JADE and she is beautiful inside and out!  She helped me pick out some one of a kind timeless pieces.  A black Kiyonna Pencil skirt was one of them!  If you are ever in the MD/DC area give a go and stop by.  There are some fabulous places to eat there as well!

Thanks for reading XOXO~SAMILLE

Hiatus over!

I know I haven't blogged since July.  Honestly a lot has happened in my life in the past few months that made it difficult to continue blogging.  But I am ready to enter into this world again.  Resilant and ready!  I hope my followers are still with me.  If u follow me on twitter (@thickspot) or instagram (@thickspot) you may have been keeping up with my rants.  From relationship woes to sensational stage achievements.  As you may know by know I am a musical theatre performer.  A singer, a actor and this summer I worked on and just recently completed my very first Opera!  It was a blast.  But now I am back to my school work.  I'm in my senior year of college and I am just trying to stay focus to complete everything that I need to complete and to continue learning since there is always more to know.  I'm still performing and I love that.  Still creating, and still shopping.  Still reading NYLON MAGAZINE, and keeping up with the blogs and bloggers that I fell in love with long before my own blog begin.

Yesterday I tweeted a pic of a semi-simple outfit that I took a self portrait of on INSTAGRAM.  There I said how I was looking for someone to take pictures of me in it.  Well my girl Shay came through for me and here it is.  I hope you enjoy, and welcome me back with open arms.

XOXO~SAMILLE

Its been a while!

Hey guys!  I know it's been a while since my last post.  I hope all of you are still with me!  I've been very busy with school and stuff.  It's the end of the semester and I've been stressed to the max.  Also, I haven't been wearing anything fashionable lately.  Due to being poor and a lack of inspiration.  I just started rehearsal for a new musical, " The Me Nobody Knows" at The Theater Company in Hoboken, NJ, which is so exciting.  I can't wait to share more about with you all.  The music is beautiful and the storyline about angst ridden teenagers in NYC in the 70's when drugs were taking over and we were involved in the Vietnam War is still reminiscent of what's still going on in today's America.  If any of you are in the Tri-State area you should try to come out and see it in June, you will love it.

Manik Magazine will be launching soon and as you all know I am a contributing writer to the online Plus Size publication and I will be tweeting about it's arrival very soon.  Please stay tuned and follow me on twitter @thickspot!  I will be doing a giveaway soon also that I'm sure you will all love.

As for this outfit, it was thrown together but came out really nice.  Got a few compliments on it so I wanted to share.  I was going crazy this day because I never got to the mall as planned (It was raining and stuff)  for this performance I had in school.  But I've had this sweater dress for a couple months I got for like $4.00 dollars at my favorite RED, WHITE, and BLUE in South Jersey so I threw it together with some tights from Ashley Stewart, and a Bolero my Mom got me from Ashley Stewart and WAH-LAH a start is born.  It came out better than expected.  And yes the weather is still terrible cool in Jersey City to wear things like this.  CRAZY ASS WEATHER as matter of a fact.

I hope where ever u are u are enjoying Spring and all it's beauty I am looking forward to finals being over.

Comfy and Casual!

I like casual!  I like to be comfortable!  Especially at school.  So when I saw these limited addition sweatshirts from Old Navy I thought, "CUTE!".  And it's purple.  That's my favorite color.  I love it!  Its so cute I geeked the look up a bit!  Paired it with my favorite Jeans from Ashley Stewart (I really need to go back to Ashley Stewart) and these comfy loafers I scored from Payless in late fall for like $9.99 and this is what u get.  Comfort!  It was such a nice day when I took these pics that I said lets go outside, No coat or anything.  I was really happy how it turned out!

PS:  May Whitney Houston R.I.P. remember her 4 her greatness.  It's really sad how people are trying to taint her name!  Her talent was what made her famous, not her bad habits.  People go through public struggles are even more special and more resilient, for they help all of us by allowing it to come to the forefront and talk about it.

Just THANK YOU Whitney, for teaching millions of us how to sing.

OOTD: Fahionable Re-peat!

This satin shirt!  I believe it's satin!  It may be silk, I can't remember!  I do know that I can't get enough of it.  The color makes me soo happy!  Bright, shiney and a loose fit.  I get compliments on it every time I wear it and that lets me know it's not getting old.  I have worn this on 2 previous posts on my blog.  I wore it to school last week and my friend was like you should take pictures in that blouse.  So that's exactly what I did.  And I finally got to rock one of my favorite headbands from Forever21 on this blog.  It never before made an appearance!

U know me!  I topped it all off with Gold accessories!
