Asos Peplum

I've been eyeing this stripped Asos Peplum for a while now!  For one, I love stripes, ( in fact I'm wearing tripes right now!) but I was also unsure of the peplum style.  Considering I carry most of my weight in my stomach ( I don't like it and am working on it) I was afraid it wound enhance it.  But I'm actually really happy with the peplum style, and plan to incorporate more into my wardrobe.  I also think its a great way to make any outfit more feminine, without adding flowers n such.  I paired it with this stretchy bandage skirt I've had in my closet for a while  Different from the pencil skirt by Kiyonna from the last post.  But just as cute n comfy.  Paired it with my favorite thrifted bag I've been rocking for the past few months n whipped out these Steve Madden boots that I've been dying to wear.  Since I could never get my hands on the Jeffrey Campbell starburst these were the next best thing.  I wore my LOVE earrings from Asos too!  Didn't really get to see them in these pics but check out my INSTAGRAM @thickspot, you will see them there.  It felt good.

OOTD: WELCOME BACK!

My 2nd to last semester started on Tuesday and I was feeling it.  It was cold as hell but I'm not gonna lie I was glad to be back.  Speaking of cold it seems to be getting colder and colder everyday and now I think I'm coming down with something.

I hope you guys enjoy this post compared to the last one.  The last one for some reason just wouldn't show up right for whatever reason.

I did wear a hugely oversized coat on the first day too!  But these shows just display the outfit.  I wish I could have got more shots of my earrings.  They were fab!  Next time tho!  Promise.

Don't forget to follow me on INSTAGRAM @thickspot!!!

PEACE AND LOVE

Places I've Never shopped

I consider myself somewhat of a shopaholic.  I shop pretty often and could almost all day everyday if I had the funds to do so.  But of course like many people I am a repeat offender.  My heart longs and caters to some of the same shops.  Just like a Doctor or a Hairstylist when you find the right one that never seems to steer you wrong you keep coming back and back.  Thats how I am with ASOS, Forever21, Target, Torrid, K-Mart, Ross, Marshalls, Ashley Stewart and my favorite thrift store in Hamilton, NJ.  I've had a bad experience with London fashion super store EVANS, that has prevented me from shopping there again although I often look through their catalog longing to wear their items.

This year I recently started shopping from SimplyBe and absolutely love it.  The cut, the fit, the style, the fabrics they leave longing for more.  I wish there were possibly a little more affordable but I do believe their clothes are worth it.  I also returned to shop at Lane Bryant.  Usually finding their clothes to be somewhat off trend, it is my understanding they have a new creative director and was bought out charmers shoppes inc..  However I have conflicting stories to know the truth of that rumor but now I think they are starting to cater to the young plus size women and still keep their solid following of the working/business plus size women.  With that said, I have made some fabulous purchases from them as of late.

Stores however that I am eager to try out are as follows:

Modcloth is top on my list.  The fact that they have a large selection of clothes that go up to a size 4x truly turns me on.  Saddly they seem to sell out of their VERY plus size stuff quickly.  Visually I see why...they have vintage or vintage inspired pieces that big girls long for.  Those old classic Donna Reid cuts or those festive paterns from yester years.  They are exspensive at least for me but are made in America which totally makes me want to support!  They seem like rare artisian Gems.

nakimuli run and owned by a funky little chick named Tennille Nakimuli caters to the woman pushing the plus size boundaries.  She makes straight sizes and plus sizes and custom pieces all out of Brooklyn.  Many Celebs curvy and not (Jill Scott & Erykah Badu) have been spotted rocking her stuff.  I have been in awww of her things for a while and soon I will be coping my first piece of hers.  Definitely a New Years resolution.  Please check her out.  Follow her on Instagram she is amazing.

17 Sundays Is a Australian based company that has very interested jackets and other cute items that definitely make me wanna possibly explore making a purchase.  The name is also fitting, they were  going for what it was like when we were 17.  But I do find them extremely exspensive.

donatellas WOW~!  This is a site that I will probably make a purchase as soon as Christmas is over and I'm done shopping for others.  They have leggings, tights and hoisery that goes up to like a 7x!!!  Thats too cool, you can't say they discriminate and they have free shipping worldwide from LONDON!  I'm in love!

out of the corner boutique These clothes are sooo cute so trendy.  I discovered it recently when Mia of http://diaryofafatshionista.com/ mentioned them on one of her post.  Most of the clothes I want are sold out for the season.  So I'm really looking forward to their spring styles.  Look at this...

It is apart of my new years resolution incorporate some of these fashions in my day to day wardrobe!

A lil Black & Gold a lil Soul!

As you may know I'm a performer.  Predominantly musical theatre but I dip and dabble in other genres.  I joined the R&B Pop Ensemble this semester at school and got the chance to do a Diana Ross and the Supreme song along with "I Never Loved a Man" by Aretha Franklin.  Immediately when I saw this dress on ASOS I knew ....I GOTTA HAVE IT!!!  YESSS!!!!  I was broke at the time but scraped pennies to get it delivered promptly.  LOVE IT!  I know I wear a lot of black, but I love it, it goes with anything.  Especially anything at night.  I paired it with these American Eagle boots I got at Payless, added some big hair and <<>>I was ready to.

It runs a little short so I put some old shorts from Kmart's Love your Style line underneath them.  But the dress that could also be worn as a tunic was very comfortable, stretchy and stylish.  I hope you enjoy these backstage pics.

Hiatus over!

I know I haven't blogged since July.  Honestly a lot has happened in my life in the past few months that made it difficult to continue blogging.  But I am ready to enter into this world again.  Resilant and ready!  I hope my followers are still with me.  If u follow me on twitter (@thickspot) or instagram (@thickspot) you may have been keeping up with my rants.  From relationship woes to sensational stage achievements.  As you may know by know I am a musical theatre performer.  A singer, a actor and this summer I worked on and just recently completed my very first Opera!  It was a blast.  But now I am back to my school work.  I'm in my senior year of college and I am just trying to stay focus to complete everything that I need to complete and to continue learning since there is always more to know.  I'm still performing and I love that.  Still creating, and still shopping.  Still reading NYLON MAGAZINE, and keeping up with the blogs and bloggers that I fell in love with long before my own blog begin.

Yesterday I tweeted a pic of a semi-simple outfit that I took a self portrait of on INSTAGRAM.  There I said how I was looking for someone to take pictures of me in it.  Well my girl Shay came through for me and here it is.  I hope you enjoy, and welcome me back with open arms.

XOXO~SAMILLE

OOTD: MY Prof. book a job look!

In the last week I drove down to Chattanooga Tennessee with my Mother and Sister to the South Eastern Theatre Conference to audition for over 200 professional theatre companies in hopes of scoring work for the summer.  There were tons of workshops going on up until the day of the big audition, a lot of people to meet and of course a lot of yummy food to eat in Chattanooga!  This post will only cover one of the outfits I wore on one of the days I was attending different acting and the business of business workshops.  I had on a few really cute looks that of course I never took pictures of, but this one did make the cut and got a nice photo shoot out of it!  I've been actually wearing this Asos skirt with lace for a while when I bought it this past winter, but I finally snapped some pics in it!

The next post will be all about Chattanooga with more pics, I just have to get them all together first!
Hope you like it and I am on spring break this week, so I actually had 2 weeks off!  Lucky me!  I'm going to try to do some interesting things for the blog this week!

Sorry for the lack of posts, but I've been busy!

Hello March: Me and my Panel leggings welcome u!

Last month I didn't have a lot of posts mainly because I was busy working on and performing my play!  What a blast!  What a blessing!  What a time, man!  Sometimes I feel like I spread myself to thin, but then I seem to somehow accomplish things.  The last weekend for the play starts tonight.  Thursday @ 7, Fri & Sat @ 8 and Sunday @3!  The details are over at www.atticensemble.org.  I made the Jersey Journal with it too.  That's kinda dope!

Here's a pic from The Jersey Journal

Well it doesn't stop there, I leave for Chattanooga TN, on Tuesday for the SETC's (South Eastern Theatre Conference) where I get to audition for over 200 professional theatre companies at once in hopes to book employment acting and singing for the summer!  I am sooo excited.  I'm getting my outfits together for the trip and I hope I can make at least one post while I'm there, but I'm going to take a bunch of picture's and definitely give the blog an update when I get back.

I got these Asos panel leggings while there were on sale in December and I love them!  I rocked them with this Metallic sweater by American Rag that I've had my eye on for a while on over at  www.Macys.com.  I'm happy to say I did not pay full price for either item and that the weather has been so crazy lately that I wore this with a light jacket and it was all good.  I matched it with my favorite combat boots that have turned out to be my go to item this season, especially with all the walking I do and Wah-la~!  I think I achieved that sexy, easy, comfort feeling that I love so much!

I'm taking this outfit or some version of it to Tennessee as well!

XOXO~SAMILLE

OOTD: ASOS

On Saturday the 18th, I finally got to wear two items from my favorite online store, Asos.  I had this black dress for a while and as far as the skirt I bought it when it went on sale during it's winter clearance. (both items are gone now)

My school was holding the NATS competition. (National Association of Teacher's Singing)    I was entered into the Musical Theatre Competition and I had the opportunity to change into a different outfit so I was like ok cool!  I bought the two outfits and at first I was like 4get it I'm not gonna change, everyone sounded sooo good and the day was getting longer and longer.  Especially considering I woke up at 7:00am, which is NOT a common thing over at mi casa!  But my darling, darling friend and fellow singer, Liam persuaded me to change.  He said, "if not for the competition than for Whitney!"  (LOL we are so crazy, we had to do the competition but wanted to go to NEWARK for the funeral)  So we did and headed over to the auditorium waiting for the results of the competition.  The first place winner's of each division had to be ready to sing right then and there.  And after waiting all day I was in complete total shock when they announced my name and that I won the Musical Theatre Division!!!  (I also never ran in heels before either and ran all the way up to the podium to receive my award.)  Talk about cloud 9!

It wasn't until this year that they even offered the Musical Theatre division.  So I'm kinda like the first to win it ever!!!  That's really cool!  I'm real grateful and figured I share it on my blog, along with some pics of the day!

NOW THE WINNING LOOK~~~!

I Kinda feel un-creative for wearing outfit#2 the same way it was online, but I had both pieces at different times and wanted to make something work!  Hope its not corny, there will be other ways to style this in the near future!

Fashion Repeat!

This may very well be the most noticable re-offender of the season.  My shiney, satin blouse that I scored from Marshalls back in August!  I already wore it on a cool late summer night.  But I wanted to show this top again in a different way ( since I love it so much) and I am sure I'll wear it again!

Here I pair this lovely shiney orange blouse with my tulip skirt from Asos that I got when the collection first began.  I paired it with a pair of tights that I picked up from The Avenue and my favorite wedges from Aldo!

I hope you guys like and please don't forget to enter the contest!!!  The entry ends on NOV 7th and the winner will be announced on Nov 12th!

I will be in Virginia this weekend for the SETC's audition, which stands for The South Eastern Theatre Conference.  This is where you audition for many professional theatre's at once from Virginia to Flordia in the chance of seeking work in the upcoming summer!

So I will be sure to take some pictures while I'm there.  Everyone else have a nice weekend and Happy Halloween!!!!

All these pics were taken at my friends house for a party!

Re-incorporating the Old!

As you guys know, Leopard along with other Animal prints are really in this fall!  Its one thing that I am falling more and more in love with!  Last fall leopard still played a big part in fall fashion!  Thats when I made a Asos order and ended up giving one of the dresses away right here on this blog!  It was too big and I decided I would give it away and order me another one.  I just never posted a outfit pick of it.

Last week I had to perform at school and just when I thought I had my outfit all picked out...Boom!!!  I changed my mind - Like most women do!  In fact I prolly go through 3 to 5 outfits everyday until I find the one I want to wear!

So I came up with this stylish little number that everyone was like," OMG where did u get that dress?"  Well right from my closet!  Its definitely something I am never going to let go of and represents that ASOS style that I O so love!  And still easy enough to incorporate into your very own style!
