OOTD & IRENE

Hey guys I haven't been around in a while.  Like everyone else on the east coast NJ was hit with a gusty, busty bitch named Irene!  I was at home at my parents house in South Jersey instead of in Jersey City and boy did they get it bad.  A lot of floods and blocked off streets really slowed up everyone's weekend.  Also some bridges collasped and part of our states capital is under water!  I was suppose to go to the Afro-Punk festival in Brooklyn this past weekend but of course it got rained out!    Even still we walked away from it very best as some of our other neighbors were not as lucky!  I hope that all of my readers are safe and sound.  A lot of people are still without power and I hope it doesn't last any longer.

Now to the fashion!  This is a DKNY shirt dress that I got on sale for like a ridiculous amount of money at Lane Bryant last March!  (Something like $14.99 or something)  I finally wore it on a nice day and got caught in the rain with my cousin, so please excuse my hair and the dress wrinkles!  This picks were taking at a local truckstop while we were seeking coverage from the rain!

Soldier 4 the arts!

Good weekend to all of my followers!  At the present moment I am in Baltimore but soon will be back in Jersey City!  If you guys don't know by now I'm an artsit!  A soldier for the arts!  My primary thing is singing, but i major in musical theatre and would feel comfortable enough to call myself a actor, writer, and dancer!  One thing I love about Jersey city is their constant support for the creative and performing arts!  Downtown  Jersey City is made up of artist!  Its kinda like the place if your Not an artist you can get the fuck out!!!  When I am not at Jersey City University honing my skills and coming as close to perfection as possible with my craft I am downtown Jersey City watching other fellow artist pour their hearts out to whatever their creative medium may be or I'm there doing it myself!  Over the last 2 years of moving to Jersey City from South Jersey I have encountered many other fellow musicians one of which is Wymeing and his band AUDIO BODIES!  More of a alternative rock sound, with deep rythmic grooves!  He was busy this past weekend hosting a going away party for him and his band for their upcoming gig playing at the HEMP FEST in Seattle.  They are going to drive across country promoting their music all along the way!  It was a invitation only party and the venue was only announced after you RSVP'd!  So I went with my good friend Jessica and her best friend Jessica and her boyfriend Orien to check it out!  (Not to Mention Whymeing asked me many times if i was really going to come)  We drove down a street that just ended by a bunch of warehouses, but we saw Wymeing right outside ready to greet us!  He escorted us up into by far the most amazing artist loft I have seen yet while living up here!  Omg!  Just a beautiful open space with Graffiti all over the walls, graffiti pics of him, Old Dirty Bastard and other cool trippy stuff!  A bar and we discovered it was more than one floor and then we got to go upstairs onto the roof and got a great view of Jersey City and NYC!!!!

I love living up here!  When u see views like that you get the feeling you can reach out and touch those high sky scrappers and just achieve anything!  Like the world is in your grasp!  I am truly in love with Jersey City!  Its minutes away from NYC, so many ways to get there cheaply and it still has its own vibes and happenings without the crowded jaded NYC experience!  I just love all the artist i meet here and the eclectic groups of people!  I am blessed for the experience of spending some creative years of my life here and I will always be a soldier for the arts!  Support the arts people, in every way possible...open mics, galleries, plays, theatre, concerts, street art!  Please keep allowing people a voice and venues to get things off their chest!

Time 4 a new post

Last month I forgot to do my montly "LATELY" post!  So I figure today be a good day to touch on what I've been up to lately and things that have been on my mind.

First I would like to say thank you for waituntilthesunset.blogspot.com for my lovely blog award!!!  Thats sooo wonderful, I truly appreciate all the love I've been getting this summer!  I've had this blog for whats going on to be 2 years and I am up to 54 followers.  Some would say why not more?  I say its exactly what and where its suppose to be!  For a minute I stopped posting also, so i think a lot of things should be taken into account.  However, this summer I have been getting sooo much more support!  The love I'm getting from other bloggers and followers makes me feel kinda special and I have to thank everyone who reads this, follows it, and lets others know about it...THANK YOU!

Unfortunately I couldn't make it to the clothing swap as hard as I tried.  I believe they said there will be another one this fall and I still have the dresses to swap and will attend.  It was short notice and hard for me to get away!  So i definitely apologize for that!

Last weekend I went to the CatSkill mountains for one of my close friends Jessica's birthday who may have seen on the blog before!  She also takes some pics of me from time to time and usually the ones she takes are very popular!  She's a hippie to say the least and for her birthday wanted to be outside in nature with no cell phones or internet.  Not exactly what my city mind and spirit would call exciting...but boy was I wrong.  It really made me love and appreciate her sooo much more than I have!  For her just being...her!  Here we are in this country house, a bunch of young people, doing young people things and we saw a bear at 6 am when we first arrived, hiked, ate delicious food that we all cooked ourselves ( I had a black bean burger that changed my life) and drank until we were o so merry!  The different personalities and backgrounds is what made it truly remarkable and how everyone was at harmony and got along!  It was a spiritual awakening for me and a eye opener.  That I am sooo very small in such a large vast world, that there's a force beyond everything that I can see and that I must arrive to my full potential to recieve continuous blessings in my life!!!  WHEW!  Thats exactly what I thought!  I hope u agree!  Gratitude is everywhere and yet we dont acknowledge it enough or just say thank you enough.  Because everything that weekend was sooo beautiful, even me!  I felt perfect outside with nature, like all i can do is be myself and it works in this large eco-system of things being themselves or just being!  Just Be!

I hope you take that with u from this post!

I also want to say I am still sooo sadden by Amy Winehouse's death, she died so young, she was my age and probably felt so unaccomplished.  After that weekend I know she's exactly where she needs to be...I hope just not a restless soul!

Romper, Pockets & Graffiti!!!

I went home to South Jersey recently and hung out with my cousins!  Needlesstosay we pulled an all nighter!!!  Yea, went to philly and just hung out!  It was wonderful!  I will say I have had a lot of adventures this summer, a lot of stories to share, lessons learned and new things to love and experience!  One new thing I experienced is my first ever ROMPER!!!  Yeah!  I actually have one in my closet that I've had since last summer, but was a little to tight in my stomach to wear!  Hopefully by the end of the summer it will make it on this blog!  Anywho...lets talk about this romper!  Its my first one, from K-Mart, from the Love Your Style Collection, which is actually super stylish, cute, and affordable!  Not bad at all!  I got it on sale for under $20.00 and did I mention it has pockets???  I love things with pockets.  Pants, dresses, shorts and rompers!  Maybe its a nervous condition but I love putting my hands in there and I am a firm believer in making things practical and I always have something in my pockets.  I think the line is worth checking out, I believe there is a item in there for every plus size girl, that will fit your style!  Love your style, Love your size, Love yourself and love others!  It's something thats not said enough, but if thats what this line represents then Im a believer!

Like I said I pulled a all nighter!  These pics were takend around 6am!  And if you know me closely at all or follow me on twitter then you will know I am quite the night owl and the summer is not a time for rest for me!  But I think its catching up to me!  Before I take it down for the weekend I had to make a post!  I have some other wonderful pics coming soon as I spent a weekend in the Catskill mountains so keep checking for that!
Thanks for looking I appreciate it!
